Alex Glass is a composer, pianist, improviser, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Well-versed across many disciplines, his musical output includes the award-winning orchestral composition The World Inside, the self-released original jazz album Everything Falling Together (on which he was also pianist), and numerous solo piano and chamber works. As a performer, Alex regularly freelances in the New York area, and is especially passionate about premiering new works by fellow composers.

Alex has been teaching private lessons in piano since 2022 and in guitar since 2023. He currently teaches in Tribeca, Manhattan, and Bath Beach, Brooklyn, with current students ages 5 to adult, at all levels of progress.

As an educator, Alex fosters a kind, open-minded learning environment with emphasis on curiosity and guided self-discovery. His teaching philosophy values a balance between presentation of new ideas and encouragement for students to find their own solutions—he believes through experience that this strategy is highly motivating and gives students the confidence to problem-solve on their own. Alex’s lessons are specifically tailored to each student, frequently arranging students’ favorite songs. He works especially well with high-energy students, as he is skilled at engaging and directing students’ energy toward music.
