Minnie Jordan is a Brooklyn-based improvising violinist and composer. Working primarily in the jazz idiom, she draws on a wide swath of American roots music as well as classical training to develop a contemporary voice for the instrument.


Minnie has a BM in Performance and an MM in Contemporary Jazz Performance from Berklee College of Music, and studied at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. She has been teaching violin for 6 years, in various contexts--private lessons, group and ensemble lessons in private and public school music programs, and clinics/workshops at festivals. She is a full-time violinist, playing jazz, country, classical, and pop music at venues and festivals both in NYC and internationally.


Minnie aims to combine a serious approach to the instruments with down to earth examples and laughter to help bring the music alive. Music is fundamentally about creating an experience for the musicians and the audience together, and she prioritizes appreciation, love for the instrument and the importance of collaboration, while ensuring a solid technical foundation that will allow her students to reach the highest levels.
